The End of World Cup

Yes it's finally the end of the World cup 2006... I've officially watched my 6th world cup, ( didn't really remember what happened in '86 though).

Golden Ball Award: Zidane

Is this a practical prank or what? he headbutts in the final and he gets the prize. Not that Beckham was that sparkling in '98 when he decided to stamp on Simeone, and he became the world's most villified player. And Zidane gets the best player of the tournament... so much for sportsmanship and fair play. Cannavaro certainly gets my vote for being the most consistent man for all 7 matches he played. Of course, Cannavaro did not even get a yellow card. Zidane seriously only played 3 good matches and got himself sent off in the final.

Most entertaining Team: Portugal

What? Are you serious? They scored 7 goals, conceded 5... Ronaldo was crap, Deco wasn't really at full form, Pauleta was a joke, the only thing entertaining was it's shootout with England, and Figo showing Ronaldo how to play like a true winger. In short, they were forgettable, not the team I would wake up at 3am to watch them play.

Top Referee: Shamsul

Believe it or not, this Singaporean has got the highest rating for refereeing the matches in world cup, and the people actually couldn't find his picture to be put on soccernet...

Economists had said that if Italy were to win the world cup, it would do the world economy the best compared with other teams. So let's hope all my friends looking for jobs are able to ride on this wave. Or they can shoot those economists if it does not come true.
